Engineers' 'wicked' problem solving skills

The Samuel Beckett Bridge in Dublin

This paper looks at the ‘T-shaped’ engineer as a response to ‘wicked’ problems – the need for engineers to not only demonstrate technical capabilities (the vertical part of the ‘T’), but also to develop horizontal capabilities to be effective wicked problem solvers and cope better with paradoxes in a VUCA world.
