Leaders today face a world that is increasingly complex, ill-structured, dynamic, and even chaotic to the casual observer.

Traditional leadership and management approaches don’t seem to be working – often leaving us feeling unsure of what direction to take and struggling to make sense of it all.

Contemporary leadership is emerging based on the understanding that leaders are in service to problem solving and do not need to know all the answers, but do need to create a context in which everyone is willing and able to continually execute and change at the same time.

We prepare leaders for the constant push and pull of paradoxes that seem to be everywhere – balancing these tensions is the essence of contemporary leadership. Flexing and adapting to find the right balance on many different continuums is sometimes called ambidextrous, Janusian, or creative leadership.

The hardest leadership challenges arise when there are no quick fixes, easy solutions or simple responses – especially because so many of today’s paradoxes have a high degree of social complexity and progress depends on relationships and trust.

High performing leaders establish a relationship where followers choose to follow willingly, not through dominance or control. This requires an ongoing process of self-development to role model, inspire, challenge and enable those they lead in service to effective collaborative problem solving.

We do not believe in a one size fits all approach and our bespoke leadership development services typically involve a mix of consulting, coaching and training. Some examples are outlined below.
